
Envenomation due to snakebite is a major public health concern in India, causing a large amount of morbidity and mortality. Misinformation regarding treatment of snakebite, especially in rural settings, usually contributes to inappropriate handling practices and delayed medical intervention that can contribute to a large amount of morbidity and mortality. This case report is of a man in his late 20s who came with self-amputation of his left index finger following a snakebite, bringing to the fore the risks of such beliefs and the need for specific public health awareness campaigns
